The rule of thumb “one access point per 100 square meters” is a good starting point, but the reality of an office with walls, corners, and multiple floors is more complex.
What actually affects coverage
Concrete walls and metal structures block signal far more than drywall. A floor with many small offices needs more coverage points than an equally sized open-plan space. Device count matters too — 30 people on video calls at once need more capacity, not just coverage.
How we calculate it properly
Instead of general rules, we do a site survey — measuring actual signal strength in every corner of your space before recommending placement. That way you avoid either overspending on unnecessary equipment or ending up with dead zones.
- Open space up to 100sqm: usually 1 access point is enough
- Multiple rooms/walls: 1 per 60-70sqm
- Multi-floor building: at least 1 per floor
